Missing Family Found: Whistles and Horn Help Rescuers Find Family Lost in Everglades
A missing family has been found safe in the Florida Everglades after rescue searchers overcame the odds and reached them before it was too late.
An Ohio family were forced to spend an anxious night in the rainy Everglades after their airboat became stuck in thick vegetation.
The vegetation was reportedly so thick that they were hidden away from anywhere rescue workers were able to get to. However, thankfully for the family their cries for help were heard.

The Schreck family had gone missing after they took a wrong turn and became stuck in the thick vegetation of the Everglades. After an anxious night out in the elements they were finally found after rescue workers heard them blowing whistles and an air horn.
Scott Schreck, 44, told reporters, "Took a right and couldn't get the boat turned around. This is the first time I've been out here, so obviously I'm a novice on this body of water. Not the thing to do."
The family was in fact spotted by a rescue helicopter that was searching for them, and rescue workers on the ground were able to close in on them by listening out for their whistles.
After they were found they eventually rode back to dry land on the airboat along with rescue workers.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said, "We weren't able to see them, we were only able to hear them. They are in good condition."
The family's disappearance sparked a massive rescue effort that involved law enforcement, fire rescue and wildlife agencies, as well as helicopters, airplanes and at least six airboats, according to The Associated Press.
It was also reported that the massive search involved an area covering about 1,000 square miles in three South Florida counties north of Everglades National Park.
