Missing Mother of Four Had Filed for Divorce Weeks Before Disappearance
Karen Swift Missing After Halloween Party
A mother of four who disappeared after a coming home from a Halloween party is reported to have filed for divorce on Oct. 11. Karen Swift from Dyersburg, Tennessee, was last seen by her husband at home on Sunday morning. Her car was found with a flat tire less than a mile from her home.
Gary Johnson, father of the missing mother, said she could have decided to leave the car after she got the flat tire, and decided to walk home when something happened to her.
Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box told WREG: “I think the most major thing is to look at is the last known location where we knew she was.”
Swift, 44, has two sons in college and two daughters aged seven and nine. Her cell phone is also reported missing after it was last used to access the internet at 5am on Sunday. Her husband David has not been named as a suspect in her disappearance.
Swift’s friend Janet Ross told KAIT: “It's like living in a nightmare that you can't wake up from. Karen lives for her children. They were her world. She would not do this to them, if she could prevent it.”
Her disappearance is being treated as a missing persons case and there are no signs of foul play, said Box. Authorities searched the area by helicopter on Tuesday for any clues. A forensic analysis is also being carried out on her abandoned car.
