Missing Tennessee Family: Are the 2 Missing Girls Mayes' Children?

After nearly two weeks, only two of the four members of the Bain family from Tennessee have been located, and even then, they were brutally murdered. Much has been made of why Adam Mayes would kill the two and remain in hiding with the two younger girls.

Even though police have not confirmed or offered any motives for the crimes, Mayes' mother-in-law has stated that he believes the girls are his.

Josie Mayes is the mother of Teresa Mayes, who is married to Adam. She told the Associated Press that Teresa "was tired of him doting on those two little girls that he claimed were his."

Police have not commented about the allegation, and there currently is no proof to confirm or deny the claims. Bobbi Booth, Maye's sister-in-law has also said that Teresa feared that Adam was having an affair with Jo Ann Bain.

Adam and the two younger Bain children, Alexandria and Kyliyah, still have not been found, though police and the FBI are working together on a massive manhunt. The girls' older sister, Adrienne, and mother Jo Ann were found brutally murdered and buried in the backyard of the Mayes' home.

Mary Frances Mayes, Adam's mother, has been charged with conspiracy to commit especially aggravated kidnapping, though her attorney has said that his client is not guilty.

"She agrees with the authorities that he's possibly dangerous, but her main concern is that the children be returned immediately and safely," Terry Dycus, Mayes' attorney told the AP.

Teresa Mayes was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Adrienne and Jo Ann. She also faces four charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, one for each member of the Bain family. One of her statements to police included the allegation that Adam killed Jo Ann and Adrienne so that he could travel more easily with Alexandria and Kyliyah, whom he believed to be his own.

"Turn the girls in, and then peaceably and safely turn yourself in to law enforcement," FBI Special Agent Aaron Ford said at a news conference.
