Missing Washington Toddler Investigation Unveils 'Something of Interest'

Police found “something of interest” in the case of missing Washington toddler Sky Metalwala on Saturday.

Investigators were searching Watershed Park in Kirkland when they came across some items. A forensics team was called to examine the discoveries.

Police would not release details on the items and said they are unsure whether the items are connected to the disappearance on the 2-year-old boy. Authorities used shovels and rakes to search the soft terrain.

“They found something of interest,” said Carla Iafrate of the Bellevue Police Department to KOMO-TV. “We called out our CSI investigators, they showed up and looked at the items.”

The boy's mother, Julia Biryukova, originally told police her son, Sky, vanished Nov. 6 in Bellevue, Wash., when she left him unattended in her unlocked car after it ran out of gas.

The mother told police she walked to a gas station with her daughter and noticed the boy was missing when they returned to the car about an hour later. Police later found that there was gas still left in the car, and it was running fine.

The police previously said that Biryukova's recounting of what happened the day Sky went missing "doesn't add up."

Last week, investigators said they were gathering information from the operator of a dating website where Biryukova allegedly created a profile in July.

Biryukova said on her dating profile that she was a "sugar baby" looking for a "real man." The website is called Seekingarrangement.com, and it claims to offer a "secure place for like-minded Sugar Daddies, Mommies and Sugar Babies to meet each other."

The boy's father, Solomon Metalwala, took a polygraph test and arranged a search for the boy with volunteers last week.

The disappearance of Sky occurs while his parents are in a bitter custody dispute. Solomon Metalwala and Biryukova filed protection orders against each other as the pair continues with divorce proceedings.

The boy’s parents also accused each other of abuse and psychiatric problems.
