She is said to have then beaten the child to death and later reported him missing, said Bob McCulloch, a St. Louis County Prosecutor.

Accordingly, the Police responded to a call at around 11 a.m. Tuesday regarding a missing child at the home of Dasher, the police were told that the child was last seen at 10:00 p.m. Monday.

It is reported that Dasher told police she overslept and awoke to find her son missing.

Later on Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., people walking their dogs near the New St. Marcus Cemetery in St. Louis found the body of 13-month-old Tyler, approximately a mile from the home he shared with his mother and maternal grandmother.

The medical examiner reported the cause of death as trauma to the head but McCulloch declined to give further details on the death. However, the prosecutor said that Dasher admitted to disposing of her son’s body.

Joe Ellington, the 24-year-old father of Tyler, does not live with Dasher and, due to an inability to take care of his child, a St. Louis County circuit county judge had appointed his parents as his son’s co-guardians.

According to McCulloch, Shelby, who is on a suicide watch, is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
