'Mistresses' season 3 finale spoilers and episode 12 recap: Calista takes all the blame

In the forthcoming season finale of "Mistresses" titled "Goodbye Girl," Calista (Jennifer Esposito) will do her first-ever self-less act by taking the fall for her husband Luca's (Noam Jenkins) murder so that her friend Joss (Jes Macallan) will not have to make a plea deal and spend the next five years behind bars. But as Joss gets her freedom back, Harry (Brett Tucker) gets a new job opportunity that will impact the future of his relationship with her. Joss will also get a weird gift from Calista that will spark her mission to find the real killer.

In the meantime, April (Rochelle Aytes) will begin to realize her feelings for sweet Marc (Rob Mayes) when he disappears in the next episode after Scotty (Jayden White) leaves Los Angeles for good. Karen (Yunjin Kim), on the other hand, will find herself in a difficult situation after Vivian's (Sonja Bennett) relapse and she takes a turn for the worse. Karen becomes adrift and unsure of the future.

The photos for the new episode show some interesting scenes. The first picture shows two women talking to each other as they celebrate, while the second picture shows a plane and a man talking on the phone before boarding. The third picture shows Vivian and Karen with a guy as they pray for the former's recovery, while the last picture shows April crying as she reads Marcs good-bye note.

In the previous episode David informed Joss that she had been offered a plea deal if she admits that she killed Luca. She will not do it because it basically means 20 to life in the event that she is found guilty. Calista started a fight that resulted in her getting a private cell that was near Joss. Joss unleashed all her resentment on her friend as Calista reassured her friend that she loves her. Joss missed a chance to talk to Harry because she was with Calista in the private cell.

After Calista's lawyer tells her about the plan to throw Joss under the bus by stating that she went rouge during the murder, Calista decided to come clean and tell the police that she acted alone. Meanwhile, Joss considered the plea deal as it gave her the best chance at a life with Harry.

April is assured by her therapist that her taking in Scotty and Marc is a good thing, but that has ended as Miranda, Marc's sister, showed up to take her son. Karen joined Vivian in her doctor's appointment were she learned that the latter has relapsed.

The finale will air on Sept. 10 on ABC.
