Mitt Romney, Kelly Ayotte to Form Republican Presidential Team? (VIDEO)
Republican Presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney named a possible running mate for his 2012 campaign Monday when he suggested that New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte might be a match for his candidacy.
"There are probably 15 names of people, including Kelly Ayotte," the former Mass. governor told Fox News.
"I mean, there are terrific Republicans in the Senate, in the House, in governors' offices," Romney Added.
Ayotte, a former state attorney general, who was elected to the Senate in 2010, and who has already endorsed Romney’s candidacy, was asked about her choice for the former governor’s running mate.
The Senator recommended a number of familiar names in the vice presidential pool, including Flo. Senator Marco Rubio, Budget House Chairman Paul Ryan, and Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell.
Still, if Ayotte becomes Romney’s running mate, she, like Romney, will have to defend her efforts to repeal Barack Obama’s health care legislation, which is known to have been inspired by the former governor.
In a statement on her website, the Senator said:
"Business owners across New Hampshire have told me that the tax increases and burdensome mandates that were enacted as part of Obamacare are driving up their health care costs and discouraging them from hiring new workers."
The Senator then went on to state her commitment to defeat the plan, "I'm committed to fully repealing the health care law, and this legislation is an important step toward eliminating some of its most egregious provisions."
