The pop singer was arrested and taken into police custody on suspicion of DUI, drag racing and resisting arrest without violence. Bieber and Jeffries, both 19, were photographed leaving SET nightclub in a yellow Lamborghini together shortly before the arrest.
"Bieber drove to SET and arrived in the yellow Lamborghini," a source tells Us Weekly. "He had a big corner VIP table next to the DJ booth."
Jeffries, who is allegedly signed to Wilhelmina models, was seated in the passenger seat of Bieber's rented Lamborghini when police stopped them. She has reportedly had her own run-in with the law in the past, according to RadarOnline.com.
She took to social networking site Twitter prior to Bieber's arrest and alluded to her night out with the pop star.
"Something about the shock factor," she tweeted to her 28,000 followers
Hours prior to the arrest, the singer shared a photo of the model/student behind the wheel of the luxury vehicle with his 48 million Twitter followers.
"@chanteljeffries taking me for a ride in the lambo," Bieber captioned in the Instagram photo which was later deleted.
The San Diego native has previously been linked to hip hop mogul P. Diddy's son Justin Combs, NFL star DeSean Jackson and Bieber's friend Lil Twist. She and Bieber are believed to be friends.
Jeffries is believed to have been in the car when police observed yellow and red Lamborghinis racing each other at approximately 55-60 MPH, a police report obtained by Us magazine states.
The arresting police officer claims he "smelled an odor of alcohol" coming from the yellow Lamborghini and described Bieber as having "bloodshot eyes" and "a stupor look on his face."
The "Heartbreaker" singer reportedly failed a sobriety test which prompted the arrest. The report claims the singer resisted by reaching into his pockets and cursing during a pat-down.
"What the f--- did I do? Why did you stop me," he asked the officer. "I ain't got not f------ weapons. Why do you have to search me? What the f--- is this about?
In addition to facing DUI charges and resisting arrest, Bieber could also be prosecuted for driving with an expired driver's license of six months.
