'Monster Hunter' Rumors: Capcom Hints at Nintendo Switch Version

The Nintendo Switch, which launched earlier this month, has proven to be a huge hit, having managed to take over the Wii as the company's best-selling console. At present, its gaming library is still in the process of growing, and one of the game franchises fans are expecting to arrive on the portable console is "Monster Hunter."

Recently, Capcom's Shintaro Kojima sparked the hopes of many by hinting that a Nintendo Switch version may potentially be in the works.

When asked by Tokyo-based technology reporter for the Wall Street Journal Takashi Mochizuki, Kojima did not deny that Capcom is looking into the possibility of releasing a Nintendo Switch version for the "Monster Hunter" franchise.

"Hope you enjoy it on 3DS first," Kojima said, referring to "Monster Hunter."

Although this is far from a positive confirmation that "Monster Hunter" will be launched on the Switch in the future, Kojima's statement gives hope to fans of the franchise. Considering that Nintendo has doubled up the production on the second run of the Switch from eight to 16 million, the demand for Capcom to launch a Switch version for the franchise is obviously present, according to PVPLIVE.

Moreover, Capcom has already shown interest in releasing games for the Nintendo Switch. The company will be releasing "Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers" on the console. An updated version of "Street Fighter 2," this game could be a way for Capcom to test the waters for future game releases on the Switch console.

"Monster Hunter" is among the best-selling franchises on the Nintendo 3DS, and has sold over 12 million copies on that console alone for "Monster Hunter 4," 'Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate," and "Monster Hunter X (Generations)."

The latest entry in the "Monster Hunter" game franchise, "Monster Hunter XX," is currently available on the 3DS in Japan. A western release for the game has yet to be announced.
