MOPS to Help 4,500 Moms Breathe Fresh Air

MOPS International is anticipated to draw 4,500 moms of preschoolers from around the world for a "getaway" in Nashville, Tenn, next month. The annual MOPS International Convention is the largest gathering of such mothers under one roof and is set to help moms breathe fresh air.

On Sept. 21-23, moms in all walks of life will connect on all levels as they gain insights on parenting strategies, connect with other mothers, develop leadership skills and be spiritually encouraged.

"My experience at the MOPS International Convention was very affirming and gave me the encouragement I needed to develop as a mom and a leader in my own sphere of influence," said Sandy Hartwig, a MOPS mom of three, in a news release. "So many moms go through the same things as they raise their children, and it was a chance for me to realize I'm not alone!"

MOPS International has held conventions across the U.S. for the past 14 years. This year, keynote speakers including the ministry's CEO Elisa Morgan and humorist Ken Davis, and Wess Stafford of Compassion International will discuss topics around the theme "Fresh Air: Breathe Deeply, Live Fully."

The convention will also feature musical guests Nichole Nordeman, Mark Schultz, M.O.C. and Go Fish. Participating mothers will also be entertained by the comedy team Maddogs and Englishmen, with a Glitzy Gals Party and a talent showcase.

MOPS recently re-released two popular books, The Orchard and Naked Fruit, to help moms in their faith. More than 60,000 copies of The Orchard have already been distributed.

The 2006 convention is currently still open to mothers interested in MOPS and leadership.

Founded in 1973, Denver-based MOPS International is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and inspiring women in their journey to be the best moms possible, focusing on friendship, leadership training, and spiritual development. With more than 3,800 chartered groups in existence throughout the U.S. and 34 other countries, MOPS understands that moms of preschoolers need encouragement during these formative years.
