'Mortal Kombat X' Patches and Updates: New Game Patch Promotes Gameplay Balance and Other Combat Changes

The hit fighting video game "Mortal Kombat X" is indeed one of the most successful installments of the franchise. Having been released last year, patches and updates have been deployed to the game, which continue to make the game balanced and fresh.

Patch Brings Balanced Gameplay

The newest game patch for both "Mortal Kombat X" and "Mortal Kombat XL" was released on October 4. This new update introduced several changes to the game that promotes balance and offsets the characters. Game creator Ed Boon stated that these changes will be focusing on making "Mortal Kombat X" a more fun and balanced gaming experience.

A report also stated that the developers of "Mortal Kombat X", NetherRealm Studios, had stated that all the items in the game which previously would only be available through the mobile game, would now be available for everyone free of charge. Players only have to link their WBID account to unlock the skins.

The latest "Mortal Kombat X" update also introduced some system changes. These involve the air attacks, running, armor, and wake-up attacks. Also, the energy cost in canceling into a dash had been increased from 15 to 25. Running characters who get hit will then lose 50 energy points. The air attack point system has also been readjusted by the new update.

More Gameplay Changes

In the original system, the size of each character's hurtbox and hitbox increase simultaneously. However, the new patch changes this by allowing the hurtbox to increase by one frame earlier than the hitbox. This results to the characters of "Mortal Kombat X" being hit before hitting back, depending on the timing.

Also, players who are holding the block button will find that the delayed wake-up feature in "Mortal Kombat X" will not work anymore. This will then allow characters to execute wake-up attacks quicker, a particularly useful feature when surprising enemies.

Specific character changes to the various characters in "Mortal Kombat X" were also introduced by the new patch. There were also several new general gameplay fixes that were implemented. These include the various move list corrections and the Kounter message added every time a hit is considered a punish or a counterattack.

Xbox Achievements also stated that players of "Mortal Kombat X" cannot use specific timing anymore. This was previously used to avoid recovery frames needed for certain jump attacks with weapons. The patch also lowered the victim blockstun and attacker block recovery.
