Most Desirable Woman in 2014: Emilia Clarke is No. 1, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry Snubbed (PHOTO)

The most desirable woman in 2014 is Emilia Clarke, the British actress who plays Daenerys Tagaryen on "Game of Thrones," according to an annual AskMen.com poll. While other famous mainstays like Jennifer Lawrence, Allison Brie and Jennifer Lawrence helped round out the top five, others like Miley Cyrus were surprisingly low on the list.

The most desirable woman list by AskMen.com takes the top 99 women and places them according to votes. It was released Tuesday and stated that Clarke was the most desirable because of her dedicated fans and because her mark in Hollywood is rapidly expanding.

"No other show has as devoted a fanbase as Game of Thrones. Emilia Clarke may be known mostly for her role as Daenerys Tagaryen, but to viewers, the otherworldly beauty is everything," AskMen.com wrote. "Anticipation is riding crazy-high for the show's return, but we're also looking forward to Clarke's starring role in Dom Hemingway. Mark our words: This will be her year."

Clarke was followed by Alison Brie of "Community," Emily Ratajkowski, the brunette in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson. Certainly, star power and name recognition figured into how popular some of the women are.

But for some women, their name recognition worked against them. Selena Gomez' very public split with Justin Bieber could have figured into her drop from 56 to 89 from last year. A similar thing goes for Katy Perry, who dropped like a rock from 2013's no. 21 spot to no. 90. And while Miley Cyrus was certainly controversial this year, she may have rubbed AskMen the wrong way— though she was initially voted higher, they "took the editorial decision to symbolically put her at no. 99," E! News reported.

Other big names that were on the list last year: Paulina Gretzky jumped from 92 up to 59; Aubrey Plaza of "Parks and Recreation" went from 89 to 72; the ever-popular Cobie Smulders rose from no. 64 to no. 29; Marissa Mayer, the ambitious new Yahoo! CEO, went from 59 to 20; Kerry Washington of "Scandal" jumped from 46 to spot no. 7; and the quirky Zooey Deschanel mysteriously remained no. 17.
