Mother Makes Ultimate Sacrifice, Dies After Refusing Cancer Treatment That Might Have Harmed Unborn Baby (VIDEO)
Max and Elizabeth Joice were told they couldn't have a baby. The chemotherapy that helped Elizabeth beat sarcoma in 2010 made that impossible. But then last year they got the news they were pregnant.
However, only one month into her pregnancy, doctors found that Elizabeth's cancer had returned. They removed tumors from her back, but they didn't know if the cancer had spread. She would need a full-body MRI to find out, but that process could damage their unborn baby.
Knowing this might be their only chance to naturally have a child, Elizabeth decided against the MRI. When she had trouble breathing later, a shielded chest X-ray discovered she had tumors in her lungs.
Her C-section date was moved up, and baby Lily was born on January 23. Six weeks later, Elizabeth died.
Here is a CNN report about Elizabeth Joice's sacrifice for her child. Below that is a video slideshow Max posted to YouTube with a simple three-word description:
"Not enough time"
