Moto G Smartphone Images Leaked Ahead of July Launch
Even before its rumored launch this July, the public is already being given a preview of what the next generation Moto G will look like. Leaked photos were shared recently, showing a series of HD photos similar to those used in official press kits.
Moto G is Motorola's mid-range smartphone model. Its first-generation model was released in 2013 and was initially developed with emerging and developing markets in mind. Its low-price option but good enough specs allowed it to become one of the company's best-selling smartphones. Its features include a 4.5-inch 720p HD display and quad-core processing at an affordable price below $200. The second-generation model was released in September 2014, and the phone received an upgrade in features such as a better camera at 8MP and stereo speakers, still for under $200.
Reports have it that the third-generation version is slated to be unveiled in July.
The Techno Buffalo report cited that the tip only included photos, which appear to be official press photos of the device. Based on the photos, Motorola will not likely make any drastic design changes in the new phone. With regards to the phone's specs, it is expected that the phone will still have its front-facing stereo speakers. The display will be a bit larger -- 4.97-inch 720p HD display and under the hood, it will reportedly have a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM. It will come with Android Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box.
Given the improvements in camera technology, the new Moto G is rumored to have a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front one. The second-generation one had an 8MP rear camera. Internal storage will only have one option – 8 GB, but will be expandable via a microSD slot.
Aside from Moto G, Motorola will also be unveiling a new flagship phone Moto X soon, which are rumored to be a 5.2-inch smartphone and a 5.7-inch phablet.
