Verizon has launched a new budget smartphone, the Motorola Moto G4 Play. This new phone is worth $89.99. The Moto G4 Play is worth $149.99 when you buy it through Motorola's online store. The launch coincides with Verizon's release of Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on its network.

The Moto G4 Play's specs include the following: 2 GB RAM, Adreno 306 graphics processing unit, 1.2 GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (which will soon be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat), and a 5" 1280 x 720 HD display.

The Moto G4 Play also has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. It can capture videos at 30 frames per second. The budget smartphone also has an internal storage of 16 GB, with a microSD expansion slot that can carry microSD cards at a maximum of 128 gigabytes.
The body of the Moto G4 Play is protected with nano-coating on the casing in case of rain and water spills. The smartphone also comes with a 2,800 mAh battery.
Display and Design
The Moto G4 Play is a budget phone but you wouldn't know it by the way it looks at first glance. Just like the Moto G4, the Moto G4 Play has rounded edges and a ruggedized plastic back. It has design features that are similar to the high-end Motorola smart phones.
Its speaker and power button, for example, has similar colored trimmings to Moto Z and other high-end smart devices. While the materials used are apparently cheaper, it does give the impression of a beautiful, modern and powerful device.
Of course, the Moto G4 Play is missing out on some features, such as a fingerprint scanning device, quick charge technology and Gorilla Glass. Unlike other more expensive Android smartphones that use QHD displays, with 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution, this device's display has a modest 294 pixels per inch density, but that works for small phones.
Performance
As a budget device, the understandable aim of the Moto G4 play is to perform well in terms of basics and necessities. With its price tag though, it is a relatively speedy device. The smart phone even has a Moto Display function, a motion-activated display that provides relevant information such as email, messages and time, even when you have a turned off display.
When you are a smart phone gamer, then the Moto G4 play isn't for you. For one, the phone doesn't have a tilt functionality which is necessary in most games. You can play simple games though, and have a decent experience watching movies as well.
