Moto X 2016 Coming This Month: New Moto Z's Release Date, Price and Specs
The upcoming Moto X 2016 (also known as the Moto Z) will arrive this June and will be Motorola's first flagship offering for 2016.
For the expected release, Recombu said that the tech company could drop the X tag on its name and replace it with the letter Z. This could be its way to avoid confusion especially that Sony is set to release its Xperia X series.
The phone is expected to be announced on June 9 at the Lenovo Tech World event in Silicon Valley, San Francisco. TechTimes mentioned that Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing invited the public to the event. He noted that an exciting device will be presented to the tech world. Lenovo acquired Motorola from Google in 2014.
Invites to the event reportedly indicated that both names in the industry would announce big releases. The main device to be introduced is said to be the Motorola G4 Plus, but aside from this, another highlight is expected to be the Moto Z.
Moto Z Specifications
Though there is still very little information on what the public can expect from the Moto Z, Venture Beat explained that it could come in a 5.5-inch display and a Snapdragon 820 processor. It was also noted that the handset could have 3GB and 4GB variants.
As for its main camera, the phone is expected to have a powerful 13MP shooter. Motorola fans can also look forward to a better 2,600 mAh battery and 32 GB internal storage.
Moto Z Models
Another possibility raised by KnowYourMobile is that the upcoming release could have two models, the so-called Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play. The two phone variants are expected to differ in their memory, storage and processor.
Moto Z Design
Android Pit added that leaked photos of the Moto Z showed a metallic frame and a camera that is noticeable at the back of the phone. A Motorola logo can also be spotted below the main camera of the upcoming handset.
Moto Amps
It was added in the Venture Beat report that the phone could also house modular panels on its back which can be attached to the phone using magnets. This feature gives users the chance to customize the back of their phone based on the designs they like.
That's not all. This modular design can also accommodate other accessories like a camera lens, a speaker or a projector to help users boost the various features of their phone.
Moto Z Price
Tech experts expect that the Moto Z could start selling at around $430 with the premium variant pegged at around $730, Recombu noted.
