Moto X Android 4.4, KitKat Update Begins Rolling Out
The Moto X Android 4.4, KitKat update began rolling out this week.
Unlike AT&T's soak test, T-Mobile fully rolled out the software to its Moto X users. It will be pushed out in phases so it could take a few days to reach certain people.
New features on KitKat include enhancements such as restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, color emoji support, improved closed captioning support, stronger security, and an improved phone app with the ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad. The camera will gain a touch to focus feature as well.

The update should begin rolling out for AT&T users soon as the carrier began soak testing the software two days ago.
Motorola sent out emails to AT&T Moto X owners that are part of the Motorola Feedback Network that contained invites for them to take part in a software soak test earlier this week. The company did not identify if this was KitKat, but it seems pretty likely as Verizon ran a similar test and Motorola confirmed it would be rolling out the software soon at the Moto G event.
Soak tests normally happen shortly before an official roll out so AT&T's should not be that far away. Verizon's recent update indicates that it should be no more than a few days before all AT&T Moto X users can enjoy some KitKat.
Google introduced Android 4.4 KitKat earlier this month alongside the brand new Nexus 5 smartphone.
KitKat is designed to be installed on a wide range of devices including older and low-end models that only have 512MB RAM.
"KitKat streamlines every major component to reduce memory use and introduces new APIs and tools to help you create innovative, responsive, memory-efficient applications," said Google on its developer's website.
