Moto X Now Available for Just $5 Per Month

The Moto X phone is now available through Republic Wireless for as low as $5 per month.

The carrier is known for offering some of the cheapest plans around with an unlimited talk, text and data on Wi-Fi starting at $5 monthly. The device will retail for $299 up front.

A $10 monthly plan will get users a Wi-Fi plus cellular talk on Sprint's network with data on Wi-Fi only. $25 plans include Wi-Fi plus 3G cellular talk, text and data. With the $40 plan it's the same as the $25 one, except if uses Sprint's 4G networks instead of 3G. Purchasing the Moto X through Republic will save consumers a significant amount of money.

Deals on the device have been popping up more frequently in recent weeks.

The Moto X price dropped down to just $99 at the end of last month through AT&T who offers the device with Moto Maker customization.

However, first place to basically cut the on-contract price of the Moto X phone in half was Best Buy, which began offering the handset for $99 earlier this month.

This deal was offered to customers picking up the handset at the retailer on contracts with carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and Sprint and is available to both new and existing customers. Amazon also offered a similar deal selling the Sprint version for just $79.99.

Purchasing the device through major carriers will lock buyers into long contracts with monthly payments that start at around $80. They should give customers great coverage and service, but their prices are guaranteed to be significantly higher than what Republic is asking. Even with the $99 price that AT&T is offering it will still end up costing more in the long run.
