Moto X Software Update Now Available and Improves Camera Performance

A new Moto X software update that brings changes to the device's camera is now available in Google Play.

The update is labeled 3.1.41.2 and introduces a few small changes to the point and shooter including the addition of manual control of focus and exposure, locked exposure during Panorama capture, additional language support and a few unspecified bug fixes.

The constant rollout of updates is part of Motorola's plan to differentiate itself from is past practices and those of other Android OEMs.

The company also got a head start on the Android 4.4 KitKat update as the software is now available for Sprint customers.

Sprint is the last out of the major American carriers to issue the new version of the software to the handset trailing behind AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular. It should take a few days before it reaches all Sprint customers and the changes made to the interface will be the same as they have been on other carriers.

Motorola was pretty efficient in releasing the software to its new flagship thanks to the company being owned by Google. KitKat still has not been made available on other prominent Android devices such as the Galaxy S4 and HTC One that launched long before the Moto X.

Google introduced Android 4.4 KitKat last month alongside the Nexus 5 smartphone. The software is designed to be installed on a wide range of devices including older and low-end models that only have 512MB RAM.

The fact that the company is owned by Google helps Motorola to be more efficient when it comes to the latest in software for its smartphones. The pairing gives it a slight advantage over some of the other companies who have a longer waiting period for updates.
