Moto X2 Release Coming Soon as Device is Spotted in Moto Maker
The Moto X2 release must be coming soon as the device was spotted in the Moto Maker earlier this month.
The flagship successor that is also being called the Moto X+1 was seen in Motorola's MotoMaker by a German mobile blog known as MobiFlip. The company has removed the listing, however, the blog was able to capture a screenshot of it before that happened.
The release date for this new Motorola smartphone could be announced at a media event scheduled for May 13.
Motorola sent out invites to this event earlier this week that will take place in London. The invitation reads "Made to last. Priced for all." This could mean that the company will unveil a device that is even cheaper than the Moto G. However, it would give Motorola a head start if they decided to introduce the Moto X successor.
There is also the possibility of the company unveiling the rumored Moto E.
A previous report pointed to the Moto X2 release date being in the summer 2014 as Motorola hinted at this during this year's Mobile World Congress at a Q&A session. They said "the next version of Moto X" will arrive sometime in "late summer." Motorola also plans to expand availability of its current smartphone lineup and the Moto Maker tool for its customers. Motorola will bring it to Europe and Mexico.
The company also plans to stick with Android as its primary OS. It also confirmed that the original Moto X will be released in India and Australia during the next few weeks.
The Moto X launched in August of last year and functions as the company's flagship handset. It feature specs that failed to wow many critics, but seemed to execute well in other areas including its integration of the Android operating system, which is similar to what is found on the Nexus line.
