Motorola 'Droid Maxx 2' rumors: Leaked photos fuel excitement for the mythical device
Over the past weekend, news emerged regarding the talks between Verizon and Motorala in the works for a new exclusive phone, and the rumors just might have been confirmed as a set of photos leaked online recently.
Rumors suggest that the reason why Moto X Play was not displayed in U.S. Motorola stores is because of a recent change of plans about a new device that is believed to be shown in the leaked photos.
The photos, acquired by the Android Police, allegedly show the rumored Motorola XT1565, which was later said to be rebranded as the "Droid Maxx 2."
While deemed by many as the most-awaited sequel to the 2013 Verizon flagship, the Droid Maxx 2 photos seem to sport few differences from its predecessor as the front of the device is much the same as the first-gen phone.
Also, more identical features are revealed as the photos show the same Snapdragon 615 SoC, a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 2 GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel rear camera, and a 3,630 mAh battery seen in the previous device.
While the next-generation phone is expected to feature either 16 GB or 32 GB of storage, several reports suggest that a notable downgrade has been discovered, with the leaks indicating that the phone has only an unbelievable 8.14 GB total for internal storage.
Meanwhile, a big Verizon Droid branding is seen at the back of the device, which, according to some phone experts, is expected of the carrier.
It should also be noted that a couple of screenshots have been leaked showing the information screen of the device, further confirming that the upcoming device is just a rebranded Moto X Play.
As leaks keep coming consumers' way, experts say the official introduction of the next-gen flagship just may be around the corner as a higher-end Droid phone is also rumored to be in the works — the device rumored to be based on this year's Moto X Style/Moto X Pure Edition, and will be released as the Droid Turbo 2.
