Motorola Droid Razr Release Date: Now Available On Sale in the US for $100 Off
The Motorola Droid Razr has recently been made available online through Verizon Wireless and Amazon.
Verizon Wireless customers have the option of buying the Droid Razr for $649.99 contract-free. Alternatively on a two-year contract, it can be bought for $299.99. To receive that price a data pack must also be purchased, which will add a further $20 a month.
The wireless store for online retailer Amazon is also selling the Droid Razr, and was on Friday initially offering the phone for just $111.11 with free shipping. However, the price has since increased to $199.99; still $100 cheaper than the Verizon wireless offer. However, the catch is the smartphone is already back-ordered and so customers will currently have to wait 8 to 9 days before shipping.
The Droid Razr is billed as "the world's thinnest smartphone." It comes equipped with a reinforced case, a dual-core 1.2 Ghz processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB of onboard memory (plus 16GB with a microSD card) and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display.
The Droid Razr is also capable of GPS navigation, Wireless-N Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth 4.0 and 3G/4G LTE connectivity.
Google's Android 2.3 operating system is also compatible with Motorola's new device.
The wireless shop section of Amazon offered up a description of the Droid Razr: "Faster, thinner, stronger, the 4G-enabled, Android-powered DROID RAZR by Motorola for Verizon Wireless packs strength and smarts into a stylish package. Reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass and encased in laser-cut KEVLAR fiber – the strongest material in smartphones – the DROID RAZR is compressed into a deceptively thin profile to create the thinnest 4G LTE smartphone."
"Slice through multiple tasks simultaneously with a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of LP DDR2 RAM, and enjoy brilliant optics with the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display. A rear-facing 8-megapixel camera also allows you to capture stunning still photos and Full HD 1080p videos while on the go. It's also outfitted with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera with HD 720p video recording for on-the-go chats."
