Motorola Moto 360 vs Samsung Galaxy Gear 2
The Motorola Moto 360 has not come out yet and its already being compared to the latest Samsung smart wear, the Galaxy Gear 2. As it stands, Samsung is looking to get some fierce competition when September rolls around with the release of the Moto 360.
The hardware for the Moto 360 has not yet been disclosed to the public, so a comparison between the Galaxy Gear 2 and the Moto 360 has to revolve around some already revealed features.
First, the two devices will both run on the Android OS platform.
The Galaxy Gear 2 comes across as a standard wearable smartphone with the capability to take photos and make phone calls, much like any smart phone in the market these days. Aside from those functions, the Gear 2 also has a pedometer, a heart rate monitor, and various exercise modes.
The Moto 360 on the other hand is more like a stand alone device, more like a watch than a smart phone. The features already known about the watch leads to the Moto 360 straying away from a watch with the functionality of a smart phone.
The Moto 360 will be the first in the market to feature a round-face design unlike the box type smart watches already available. Next, the Moto 360 will be using Sapphire glass instead of Gorilla glass, as it's allegedly four times harder than the latter.
The watch being protected by the Sapphire glass will not only protect the watch from major dings and scratches that watches suffer, but will also increase the watch's price.
One other feature the Moto 360 will have is the ambient light sensor that guages the level of light in the area, adjusting the brightness accordingly. The feature is to conserve battery life and saves the user from manually changing the brightness of the watch.
Lastly, the Moto 360 is able to charge wirelessly, thanks to "Qi charging" technology. Only a few smartphones in the market have this feature which will be carried over to the Moto 360.
It is still unclear on whether the Moto 360 will topple the Galaxy Gear 2 in terms of specs, but when it comes to the features, surely the Moto 360 has something special to offer. It may be awhile before Samsung can make a smart watch that can stand up to the Motorola marvel, but by then, the iWatch might already be making its debut.
