What's the Difference Between the Motorola Moto Z and Moto Z Force?

The Motorola Moto Z and Moto Z Force both have similarities and differences that may appeal to different clients.

Motorola will not be releasing an X series this year and it looks like it may be because of the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. These phones have "Moto Mods" accessories that can be availed at an additional price adding to its not so affordable price tag.

Appearance and design wise, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force do look alike. Both have an aluminum body panel. However, the Moto Z is thinner compared to the Moto Z Force. The two have a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with QHD resolution for display panels. They also have Gorilla Glass 4 but the Moto Z Force has an added layer of Shatter-Shield technology for additional screen protection, Forbes noted.

In terms of the internal specs, both the Moto Z and Moto Z Force have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 process with 4GB RAM, Mobile & Apps reported. Additionally, both smartphones have a USB Type-C port where clients can choose the 32GB or 64GB internal memory.

As for battery life, the Moto Z Force lasts longer as it has a 3500 mAh batter while the Moto Z only has a 2600 mAh one. The outlet also adds that the Moto Z and Moto Z Force have different rear cameras. Both have a 5MP front camera but the Moto Z has a 13MP rear cam while the Moto Z Force has a 21MP rear camera.

According to Engadget the Moto Z costs around $625 and the Moto Z Force costs $720. However, the phones do not come with normal accessories like headphones because those add-ons are added optionally through "Moto Mods."

Modular Phones Forum stated that the Moto Z and Moto Z Force are the first of its kind, modular smartphones from Motorola. The Moto Mods are optional and there are currently only three Mods available.

This includes the Power Pack battery Mod that adds 2200mAh extra battery for $60. Another is the JBL SoundBoost speaker Mod for $80 and the last is the most expensive mod called Insta-share Projector at $300. All of these mods can be attached to the Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones via their backs using strong magnets.
