Motorola X Phone Release Date Set for August 29 on Verizon
The Motorola X Phone release date could be set for Aug. 29 for Verizon users.
A leaked Best Buy inventory screen shows that the Verizon version of the Moto X will be released on that date. The screenshot was obtained by Android Central and the site claims that the handset will arrive in stock on Aug. 15 with a street date for Aug. 29. The publication also revealed that the release of the device was "pushed forward three days from its original Aug. 23 launch date.
Since the device's unveiling, various reports have stated that Verizon will release the Moto X on the 23 of this month. The handset was also expected to launch simultaneously with the new Droid line that includes the Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra and Droid Mini.
The new device will feature a 4.7-inch screen with a curved back, a 10-megapixel camera, the option of a white or black body, 16GB or internal memory, and no microSD card slot. Google will offer up to 50GB of free Google Drive storage for Moto X owners for the next two years. The device will not run the latest version of Android, but will instead come with Android 4.2.2, JellyBean out of the box.
The smartphone will be available on all four major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. It will also launch for U.S. Cellular. National retailers such as Best Buy will carry the device. T-Mobile customers will also be able to purchase it directly through the company at Motorola.com.
Motorola will allow its customers to customize their Moto X online and can have it built to order from the company's Fort Worth, Texas factory. It has set up a website with an interactive web-based tool called Moto maker that allows people to custom build their smartphone. They will be able to choose from 16 colors for the back of the device along with seven accent colors that will be used to highlight the sides and rim around the back camera. The front of the device comes in just white and black.
