'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Premiere Date, Plot Rumors: Darker Season Expected, Elliot-Angela Romance Continues?

Fans of American drama-thriller televisions series "Mr. Robot" are already excited to find out more of what will happen to Elliot (Rami Malek) in the second season. There's no official premiere date yet for the return of the show but fans get an early heads up through spoiler reports.

According to Venture Capital Post, showrunner and creator Sam Esmail and the cast gave out some hints on what will happen in season 2. For starters, fans can expect the show to go to a deeper direction. If the first season was a dark one already, the new season will explore a darker story and will touch more of Elliot's mental situation. Christian Today noted that Elliot's situation will worsen together with the unfolding of the revolution.

This hint was confirmed by Portia Doubleday, who plays the childhood friend, Angela. There are also reports saying that Angela and Elliot's complicated love story will also be explored in the upcoming season. Esmail, together with some of the cast, spoke during a panel discussion in New York as reported in Huffpost Entertainment.

The creator did not divulge much about the two characters but he said that the question of whether the two will end up in a love story is something that fans will need to watch out for. "I would be a fool not to go down that route," said Esmail.

The "Mr. Robot" series debuted in summer on the USA Network. It tells the story of an anti-social computer programmer Elliot who worked as a cybersecurity engineer during the day and a vigilante hacker at night. His mission was to expose and take down the evil corporation, which is the same establishment he is paid to protect.

Not much is known about the upcoming second season but Esmail summarized it by saying that the story is really about what happens after Elliot found out that Mr. Robot is this deeper character he has been hallucinating.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in summer of 2016.
