'Mr. Robot' season 2 premiere date & spoilers: Show to return next year, BD Wong's Whiterose character to be revealed more
"Mr. Robot" has closed its first season with a finale episode titled "eps1.9_zer0-day.avi" and it sure did not disappoint fans. And even if it wasn't exactly an intense finale, its slew of cliffhangers are making viewers excited for what's to come next in season two.
It's no surprise though why fans are caught up with one of summer's best TV shows. According to Vulture, the creators of the show have already predicted its success. In fact, even before "Mr. Robot" premiered its freshman season, the show was renewed for a second season. Sam Esmail, the creator of the drama-thriller series, did not expect what the show has achieved so far.
"I ultimately thought maybe we could [reach] a great cult status," he said the day before the season finale. "I imagined in my head that was the peak, but the fact that it broke out of that was a huge shock."
When the show returns, it will pick up from the events of the last episode. According to the Access Hollywood, the big hack that took place will be further explored and will reveal what happened to Elliot (Rami Malek) within the three days he went missing including the day the hack happened. Answers on the whereabouts of Tyrell will be also be revealed.
When fans thought the mysterious knock on the door was the end, a post-credits scene popped out showing Philipp Price talking to White Rose, a transgender woman disguising as a businessman at E Corp. The character, played by B.D. Wong, was thought to be an ally of Elliot's. But there will be twists to that story involving E Corp's connection in the Congo with coltan mining. Esmail also spoke to Entertainment Weekly that the sophomore season will delve deeper into fsociety's history.
"Mr. Robots" will be back for season two in 2016 on USA.
