'Mr. Robot' Season 3 Spoilers: Dark Army Orders Angela to Keep Tyrell in Check
Angela (Portia Doubleday) is turning out to be the dark horse in the upcoming season of "Mr. Robot."
In the promo released for the new installment, Angela is shown trying to soothe a confused Elliot (Rami Malek) following his shooting. Tyrell (Martin Wallström) followed Edward's (Christian Slater) orders and shot the hacker after he refused to join the Dark Army on the second phase of the attack against E Corp.
Elliot's wounds are reportedly severe, but it is not enough to kill him. When he wakes up, he will find himself in a room being guarded by Angela. His childhood friend has been revealed to have joined the Dark Army since last season.
Angela is also shown talking to a panicking Tyrell. After hurting his friend, the former E Corp employee is shown breaking down. Angela is there to tell him that everything happened according to plan.
Fans of the series are eager to know if the blonde really has joined the dark side. She and Elliot have been friends for so long that it seems inconceivable that she will betray him. It will be interesting to see how the hacker will react once he discovers the truth in the premiere.
Meanwhile, everything is falling apart for Darlene (Carly Chaikin). Spoilers reveal that her paranoia will get the best of her after learning that her brother was shot. Darlene seems to have the idea that the Dark Army is targeting her next.
It has been previously teased that the old feisty Darlene would undergo a huge transformation in season 3. Meanwhile, series creator Sam Esmail told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming storyline would see Elliot starting a rebellion.
"The whole goal in the first half of the second season was to destroy and erase Mr. Robot," Esmail said in a sneak peek. "Again, in a weird way, I think it paralleled what he was trying to do with the Five-Nine hack. He was trying to ignore it and erase it and pretend that he wasn't responsible for it."
He further said, "Now that's all come to pass, so this third season has Elliot facing that challenging. If you can't annihilate the thing that's broken inside of you, how can you heal that wound? What can you do about that?"
"Mr. Robot" season 3 will air Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
