MTV VMA's 2011 Big Winners: Adele, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Joe Calderone?
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards proved to be a success for a multitude of entertainers, including Katy Perry and Adele who led the moon man winner’s circle with three awards.
Perry won “Video of the Year,” “Best Collaboration,” and “Best Special Effects” awards on Sunday night. Perry took to her twitter account to show appreciation for the MTV ceremony.
“Well didn’t we have a night to remember,” Perry tweeted on Sunday night. “Thanks for making me feel the love tonight. Cheers to us!”
The only other artist to receive as many awards as Perry was singer Adele, who won can thank her production staff for helping her win “Best Art Direction,” “Best Cinematography,” and “Best Editing” for her video “Rolling In The Deep.”
Although women seemed to be a favorite for the award show winners, Lady Gaga accepted her awards as male alter ego, Jo Calderone. Gaga won “Best Female Video,” and “Best Video With a Message” awards for her song “Born This Way.”
"I couldn’t be more overwhelmed and grateful as I am tonight,” Gaga tweeted on Sunday night. “Little monsters inspire me. Never give up on your vision, you were born this way.”
One male who managed to steal the spotlight from the ladies for a moment was Justin Bieber, who won an award for Best Male Video, “U smile.”
The singer took time to thank God and Jesus during his acceptance speech.
"I just want to say thank you so much not only to God but to Jesus because I wouldn't be here without him he has really blessed me and put me in this position,” Bieber said. “Thank you to all of the other nominees they were amazing so I just want to share this award with all of them."
The Canadian singer also took to his twitter to extend his thanks.
"Thank you to everyone who showed support and congrats to all the nominees," Bieber tweeted.
Other big winners on Sunday night were Tyler, The Creator for “Best New Artist”, Britney Spears for “Best Pop Video,” Foo Fighters for “Best Rock Video,” Nicki Minaj for “Best Hip-Hop Video” and Beyoncé for “Best Choreography.”
