'My Five Wives' Star Welcomes Micro-Preemie; Family Holds Onto Faith, Prayer
"My Five Wives" star Karlie Jessop welcomed her first child, a son named Huck, on Oct. 29 and is still asking the public for prayers since the micro-preemie is still in the hospital.
Karlie is the 21-year-old daughter of Brady Williams, who is married to five women, including Karlie's biological mother, Paulie. Karlie is married to husband Jake, and the couple were thrilled to be expecting their first child. However, things took a drastic turn when Karlie started experiencing severe back pain; after getting to the hospital, things continued to progress quickly.
"They told me that I would have him that night," Karlie told Us Weekly. "There was really no chance of him staying inside of me."
Huck made his debut at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 2 pounds, 1 ounce. The entire family gathered around Karlie to offer their support but have not been allowed to see her due to hospital policy.
"Hospital policy is just four visitors besides Jake and I. None of the aunts or uncles except for [my younger sister] Madeline has been able to come in and see him. None of the other moms, just my mom, my dad, and my sister. All of my moms let me know they're thinking of us and praying for us and they always send their love," Karlie said.
"We are confident that with continued love, many prayers, and attentive hands, our baby Huck will have an amazing homecoming sometime in late February. Please pray for baby Huck," the family wrote after his birth.
Thankfully, Huck has continued to progress and underwent surgery on Dec. 5 to fix intestinal problems, which has allowed him to have his first natural bowel movement, which the family celebrated.
"Today has been a big day for #babyHuck! He got extubated and is now breathing more on his own with the help of a Nip-V, a different less invasive breathing device," the Williams family posted on their Facebook page. "HE POOPED! This is major for him because of surgery, the morphine he's been in and not to mention he hasn't really pooped on his own for the past 2+ weeks! SO PROUD of our baby boy!!"
"My Five Wives" follows the lives of Brady Williams and his extended family, which practices polygamy. Their story is featured on TLC, and even though the season wrapped before Huck's birth, there will be a special on his birth after the finale on Dec. 21.
