Mystery Denny's Tab Picked Up by Anonymous Patron

An anonymous patron at a restaurant in California surprised the other customers who were dining when she decided to pay for everyone's meal.

According to reports, the mystery person dined at a Denny's restaurant in Newcastle, which is outside Sacramento, and then after contacted the store's manager and insisted on covering everyone's bill eating at the restaurant.

Tom Klepac, the store's manager, explained that the bill came to just over $300 for the few dozen or so people who were eating there at that time.

"I asked her, I said 'Are you sure?" Klepac told KCRA, adding, "she said 'Yeah.' I said 'It'll be a lot of money … there was people, their meals were like 10 or 12 bucks. That one table there was 50 some dollars."

There was one condition given to the manager in return for paying for everyone's meal and that was to keep the mystery person's identity a secret.

Klepac and his staff agreed to keep the woman's name a secret, revealing only that it was a young mother of two in her 30s, who casually told the manager at Denny's that she wanted to pay the bill for all her fellow diners.

"People thought we were joking," Carol Kronberger, a waitress at the restaurant, told CBS.

"She didn't want anybody to know she paid, and then she left. It just put a smile on everyone's faces because we got to go to each individual table and tell them that some young lady just paid for all their meals," she added.

Klepac was impressed with this random act of kindness saying that it was a welcome treat to his customers many of whom in the store at the time were regulars and wishing that those who benefited from the free meal pass on the kindness to others in need.

"I'm hoping they'll all pass it on to people that need help too," he said.
