NACCP Honors Gospel Veterans for 2006 Image Awards
A host of familiar favorites were nominated for this years NACCPs Image Award for ''Outstanding Gospel Artist,'' with veterans including CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, and Yolanda Adams vying for the honor.

Winans, who is up for three Grammys this year, grabbed the nomination for her work on her seventh solo CD, Purified, which remains in the Top Ten on the Billboard Gospel Charts nearly four months after its September 2005 release.
McClurkin is nominated for his March 2005 Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs, a double-CD that is also up for two 2006 Grammy Awards Best Gospel Performance and Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album.
Franklin garnered his nomination for his sixth CD Hero, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Gospel Album and Top Christian Album charts during its first week of release in October. Franklin, who claims the title as the biggest selling gospel artist of the SoundScan era, will also be appearing as host at the 2006 GMA Music Awards, which will be held in April in Nashville.
Urban-flavored duo Mary Mary, comprised of sisters Erica and Tina Campbell, are nominated for their 2005 self-titled release, which marked a comeback for the sisters after a three-year hiatus. Mary Mary, who recently nabbed the Contemporary Inspirational award at last years American Music Awards, is up for a host of awards this year, including two Grammy Awards and six Stellar Awards.
Adams, who recently embarked upon her seventh national tour, is nominated for her critically acclaimed release Day By Day, which features guest appearances from McClurkin, Mary Mary, and Franklin.
The 37th NAACP Image Awards will tape Feb. 25 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will broadcast on Friday, Mar. 3 from 8-10:00 p.m. on FOX.
