The rock royalty and his new wife were spotted by passerby as they lay yellow flowers at the Houston memorial, located on the corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd., just steps away from the driveway leading up to the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.

McCartney and Shevell wore sweatpants and casual jackets. They quickly approached the memorial as a camera followed them, capturing the surprise of onlookers also paying their respects to Houston. The famous couple quickly laid down the flowers, McCartney blew a kiss to the memorial, and then threw a peace sign to the crowd before the two drove off in a blue convertible.

"I love you man!" one passerby yelled.

The night before, McCartney and Shevell attended the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Although McCartney playfully smooched with pop diva Lady Gaga, it was evident that he only had real eyes for his new wife, Shevell, who he married in Oct. 2011.

Whitney Houston, 48, was found dead Saturday afternoon in the bathtub of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton. Several prescription drug bottles were found in Houston's hotel room, and on Wednesday the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office announced that it has requested Houston's medical records from her doctors.

The coroner's office now awaits Houston's toxicology report.

Houston's funeral is to take place at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, Feb. 18. Long-time family friend of Houston, Marvin Winans, will deliver the eulogy.
