'Narcos' Season 2 Release Date, Plot News: Premiere in 2016, To Focus After Escobar's Escape From La Catedral

Fans of the American crime drama television series "Narcos" will have to wait a little longer to see brand new episodes of the show again in Netflix as it is reported that its comeback is still next year. According to iDigital Times, the second season of the show is expected to come next year around August 2016.

The first season ended last August wherein the main character, Pablo Escobar, had been doing things that provoked the Government into taking extreme action. This will lead to the next season's events which is reported to focus during the time Escobar escaped from La Catedral. He will also be seen recommencing his fight with the nation of Colombia.

The source also mentioned that the episodes in the second season of the show will most likely be "slowed down." This means that "Narcos" will not be progressing quickly because in reality, within two years after his escape from prison, Escobar was killed in a shootout on the rooftops of Medellin.

Another thing that will also most likely happen during this time period is the Los Pepes' hunt for Escobar. Los Pepes is short for "People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar" in Spanish. The hunters will be specifically targeting his family which made the real life Escobar worry about his family. Followers of the show might remember an episode in the first season showing how worried Escobar got when a bomb exploded next to the building where Escobar's most treasure possession - his family - was located.

To ease down the waiting, Netflix and Vice created a three-part Narcos-inspired documentary. The first one featured the real life versions of the series' cast, Javier Pena and Stephen Murphy. The recently released second part showed the "criminal underbelly of the city that is Lima, Peru." A former hitman working for Escobar named Elmo Molina gave the tour to the host, Monica Villamizar. The third part of the documentary showed the Vice team with the Peruvian National police as they go into the Upper-Huallage.
