'Narcos' Season 2 Update: Drama Expected Back August 2016, Eric Lange is Newest Cast Edition
American crime drama series "Narcos" is returning to Netflix soon for its second season. But according to Ecumenical News, there's no official date yet on when it will make a comeback. There are rumors though that have surfaced saying that the series, which is based on the life of controversial drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, will be back sometime in August next year.
Netflix is also known to debut a new season on the same month as the show's initial premiere. And since "Narcos" was released on August, it is possible that Season 2 will have the same timeline. Rumors point to an Aug. 26, 2016 release date based on the same date of the first season.
However, Vine Report detailed that it's also possible that the schedule will be changed since there is no confirmation yet from Netflix. There are also other shows in the lineup that may be released on the same month. Fans will have to stay tuned for the official announcement.
In other news, Deadline Hollywood reported that a new face will be joining the cast once the show hits the small screen. The source stated that "The Bridge" star Eric Lange has already been confirmed to be a series regular. He is said to play the role of Stechner, the intimidating Special Agent who is in charge of the Medellin CIA office. He has also been assigned to work together with DEA agent Javier Peña, played by Pedro Pascal. Together, they join efforts in investigating and capturing the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura.
There are also reports saying that while fans are excited to catch the second season of the show, Pablo's son, Juan Pablo Escobar, is not happy with how his father's life story is being depicted. As noted in Telesur TV, Juan Pablo said that political interests drive the show. He also says that it doesn't really depict the reality of what's going on in Colombia.
But even if Pablo Escobar's son disapproves of it, the show is moving on with a new season.
