The fourth installment of "Narcos" will have two new lead stars.

Netflix announced that Diego Luna and Michael Peña will lead the cast of "Narcos" season 4 in a new trailer.

Luna is known for starring in Alfonso Cuaron's award-winning Mexican film "Y Tu Mama Tambien" in 2001. He also appeared in several Hollywood movies, including "Rogue One" in 2016 as well as the upcoming "A Rainy Day in New York" which will be released in 2018.

Peña, on the other hand, was part of the cast of "Ant-Man" in 2015, and he will reprise his role as Luis in the second installment of Marvel film. He also guested in several TV shows, including "NYPD Blue" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

While the trailer did no provide additional information about "Narcos" season 4, reports revealed that the plot of the show will center on the cocaine distribution under the Guadalajara cartel in Mexico. The cartel is known for being the first Mexican drug trafficking group to work with the Colombian cartel in the illegal cocaine trading industry.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Narcos" showrunner Eric Newman revealed that filming is currently underway for the show's fourth season. He also revealed that they are shooting scenes in and around Mexico City as well as other cities all over Mexico, just like what they did in Colombia when they were shooting the scenes in the first three seasons of the series. "Authenticity is so important to us, and for the same reason that we had to do the Medellin and Cali cartel stories in Colombia, we felt we had to do the story of the Guadalajara cartel in Mexico," Newman stated.

Newman also talked about the fate of Pedro Pascal's character, DEA Agent Javier Peña. According to the showrunner, they already knew from the start that they will end the Colombian arc then bring the story to Mexico. He also mentioned that Pascal already knew the plans all along. However, he did not confirm that Pascal will no longer appear in the upcoming season.

Also, Newman explained the reason why Luna and Peña were chosen to star in "Narcos" season 4. He mentioned that both actors are excellent in their craft. "Michael is Mexican-American and Diego is Mexican, and that was very important for authenticity. They both responded to this particular story and they love the show. It's not as short of a list as you think, but for us, the two of them were at the very top of it. We were thrilled to have them join us."

The showrunner, however, did not provide additional details about the roles that both actors will portray when the series returns for its fourth installment.

Netflix has yet to announce the release date of "Narcos" season 4.
