'Nashville' season 4 plot news: Who flatlined?

The premiere of the new season of "Nashville" revealed bittersweet news to the viewers.

The previous season left off with Deacon, played by Charles Estan, and Beverly, played by Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, in the middle of surgery when a flatline was heard. It presented a cliff-hanger for the next season, with fans curious to know if one of them will see the end.

However, the premiere of season 4 showed that Deacon had survived. Meanwhile, his sister Beverly was seen in a coma. It was revealed that she was the one who flatlined in the finale after experiencing an aneurysm during the surgery.

With that, Deacon was seen feeling guiltier than ever since Beverly had gone through the surgery to donate a part of her liver to her brother. The ending of the episode showed Beverly slowly regaining consciousness after spending a month in a coma.

Meanwhile, Juliette, played by Hayden Panettiere, is seen struggling with her pretend life. The premiere saw Juliette on TV expressing her love for her daughter and husband, Avery, played by Jonathan Jackson. However, it was revealed that they actually have not spoken in a month since Juliette left. She then turns to Rayna, who showed up in Los Angeles to support Juliette in her performance with Steven Tyler from "Aerosmith."

As for Scarlett, played by Clare Bowen, she was seen eager to avoid Gunnar, played by Sam Palladio after their romantic encounter in the previous season. It was revealed that Scarlett and Caleb, played by Nick Jandl, have been living together. However, they were still having trouble finding an emotional bond in their relationship.
It was not long until she was reunited with Gunnar during their rehearsal. This led to Gunnar asking Scarlett about their romantic encounter. He then tells her that it was evident that she had feelings for him. However, Scarlett makes it a point to tell him that she does not want their relationship to go any further because she had a boyfriend. She was seen saying, "You make me feel like I'm out of control. You make me feel like someone I do not want to be. He makes me feel safe."

"Nashville" season 4 is expected to air on ABC every Wednesday.
