Natalie Dormer, 'Game of Thrones' Star, Talks Purple Wedding and Season 4 Spoilers
Natalie Dormer who stars on HBO's "Game of Thrones" recently appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to talk about the hit television series.
The actress portrays Margaery Tyrell on the fantasy adventure series, which recently premiered its fourth season on HBO. During her appearance on "Late Night," Dormer discussed the shocking Purple Wedding on "Game of Thrones" which saw the death of her onscreen groom, King Joffrey. Instead of letting the dark episode take over, the actress revealed that the "GOT" cast had a party on the set.
"It was done so well, like a whodunit," the 31-year-old actress explained.
"We all got to be together for a week," Dormer added. "There was a lot of Scrabble played on iPads. It was so hot in Croatia so all the girls sat with our skirts up."
In a possible spoiler, Dormer also referred to her character losing two husbands already on "GOT," pointing to a possible third husband who will inevitably meet his demise in the future of the show.
"Poor Marg," the actress said. "They keep dying! And things happen in three's in life so it's very disconcerting."
Furthermore, Dormer discussed Margaery, stating that her character is much more complex and interesting on the television series than she is in the books by George R. R. Martin. Although Dormer has not read the books, she immediately knew her character onscreen varied from the pages.
"David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], the creators of the show, were quite honest with me," she told Meyers. "They were kind of like, 'We weren't quite sure what to do with Magaery.' They take characters and they flesh them out to hopefully heighten the storylines."
Meanwhile, Dormer recently debuted an unusual hairstyle featuring half of her head shaved in preparation for her role as Cressida in the latest "Hunger Games: Mocking Jay" film. See a photo here.
