Natalie Grant Seeing Miraculous Improvements in Daughter's Health at Seattle Hospital
In a Facebook post just days after Christmas, singer Natalie Grant desperately pleaded for prayers for her daughter, Grace, who was in respiratory distress with pneumonia and a collapsed lung.
Grant took to Facebook Wednesday with a praise report leading up to New Year's Eve.
Update on Gracie: our girl has made MIRACULOUS improvements overnight!!! One of my specific prayer requests was that her spO2 levels would increase - they were steadily hovering around 85-88% and that was WITH the help of oxygen. Now the level is at 95% and she no longer needs oxygen. The tube is gone! Believing it will be at 100% soon. Her lungs are continuing to open up - continue to pray as she fights the pneumonia & RSV. The color is back in her cheeks and she just ate a good breakfast. God is good. Thank you thank you thank you for your prayers. Hoping and praying we can say goodbye to the ICU today."
Grant followed up her update with a scripture verse that she has seen come to pass in her life over the course of the past few days. The verse was from Hebrews 4:16 which reads, "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
"Literally millions of you have approached God's throne right along with me on behalf of my Gracie in the last few days. At last check, the reach on the posts asking for prayer was at 13.5 MILLION PEOPLE. Mind blowing. Truly," Grant reflected. "And that's because you shared and asked for prayer in your own circles. The encouragement this has been to our family is deeper than words can express. We have felt so incredibly loved and carried these last few days. Thank you.
Eight-year-old Grace spent the holidays with her family in Seattle and appeared to be in perfect health just days before as she posed for a Facebook picture in front of a Christmas tree with her mother and sister. But on Dec. 28 Grant took to Facebook with a plea for prayers for her daughter who was in the hospital.
"My daughter Gracie has pneumonia, a partial collapsed lung and is in respiratory distress. We would so appreciate your prayers," Grant posted on her timeline.
The singer regularly updated her fans with pictures of Grace holding onto a stuffed animal while laying in a hospital bed hooked up to an oxygen mask.
Grant and her husband, Canadian producer Bernie Herms, take great pride in their three daughters and the two took shifts in the hospital to monitor Grace's progress.
The multiple Dove Award winner also received support from her friends in the Christian music industry, including Jason Crabb and Don Moen, who took to social media to ask fans to join them in prayer.
Because Grant was in her hometown of Seattle when her daughter became ill, her family was nearby to assist. Grant wrote that she was so "grateful" for the help of her brother who's a doctor, and acknowledged the "wonderful" staff at Swedish Medical Center where Gracie is being treated.
