Natalie Wood Detectives: Witness Claims to Have Heard Screams From Yacht
Detectives in the Natalie Wood death case have questioned a witness Tuesday who allegedly overheard her crying for help, according to reports.
According to RadarOnline retired stockbroker Marilyn Wayne of Los Angeles has been interrogated by police. The case into Wood’s death was recently reopened and Wayne’s testimony is a central focus of those investigations.
Wayne was a guest on a nearby yacht less than 100 feet from the yacht Wood was in with her husband Robert Wagner and actor Christopher Walken in 1981, just hours before her death.
Wayne has reportedly said she heard someone calling out, “Help me, someone please help me, I’m drowning.”
Wayne has also claimed that she was ignored when the initial investigation was held 30 years ago. According to RadarOnline she wrote in a sworn petition to have the case reopened: “The County Sheriff’s Department was well aware of my account (but) they continued to ignore me.
She added: “When investigating a body -- especially under the bizarre circumstances surrounding Natalie Wood’s death -- one would think the authorities would have jumped at the opportunity to talk with me, as I had information that could have shed light on the case.
“Lead case Detective, Duane Rasure, publicly called me ‘someone seeking my name in the media’ and that was extremely insulting, as, in fact, I preferred to have quietly interviewed with the authorities.
“I never gave my full account until I was contacted almost 20 years later by author Suzanne Finstad while she researched for her biography on Ms. Wood, titled Natasha.”
