Nature Made Vitamin and Supplement Product Recall Because of Possible Salmonella, Staph Contamination

Pharmavite Announced Product Recall
In line with this, Pharmavite LLC, the Northridge, California-based manufacturer behind the brand names like Nature Made® and SOYJOY® announced on Tuesday, June 7, that they were recalling some of their Nature Made vitamins over concerns of Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus contamination.

"We are initiating this recall out of an abundance of caution to protect public health," the company said via a press release. "Pharmavite is working closely with the FDA to implement this recall and we are notifying all retail customers and distributors to remove the product from store shelves immediately. No other products are impacted by this recall. The recalled products were distributed nationwide to various major retailers."
The products in question are (1) Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi with lot numbers 1196066, 1196071, and 1205052; (2) Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi + Omega-3 with lot number 1173600; (3) Nature Made Adult Gummies Multi for Her plus Omega-3s with lot numbers 1196048 and 1196050; (4) Nature Made Super B Complex w/C & Folic Acid tablets with lot numbers 1173779, 1170987, 1204735, 1173146 and 1204001.
Recall Details
According to Pharmavite, those who have purchased the product or would like to make sure that the product they are about to buy are not included in the recall can check the lot numbers printed on the back panel where the expiration date can also be found.
If the products have lots that were listed above, they should not be consumed. Customers are advised to return these products to the retailers, where they are also entitled to a full refund.
The company decided to implement the recall after they found out that there has been a failure to conduct a though testing of the products for Salmonella and/or Staphylococcus aureus contamination. Pharmavite assured their consumers that they are taking the matter very seriously and they are doing the necessary corrective measures.
Salmonella Poisoning and Staph Infection
Some of the symptoms of salmonellosis include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps,. These signs can manifest between 12 to 72 hours after the infection, and the illness could take four to seven days. Staphylococcus aureus, meanwhile, can cause serious infections such as pneumonia or bacteremia (bloodstream infection) and the symptoms include difficulty in breathing, malaise, fever, or chills.
