Naval Base Shooting: 2 Shot at Millington Naval Base, Gunman in Custody (VIDEO)
A naval base shooting at Millington has seen two men injured, with one person shot in the foot and the other shot in the leg. Neither victim is thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Millington Naval Base was put on lockdown following the shooting, which occurred adjacent to the facility. According to reports the suspected shooter was taken into custody, and is believed to be a Navy recruiter who had just been relieved of duty at the Tennessee naval base.
The shooting occurred inside the National Guard Armory just outside the base, and occurred after the suspect had just been relieved of his duties, when he went to retrieve a small handgun from his car, and then return to carry out the shooting, according to reports from local police.
Following the shooting the suspect was quickly tackled to the ground by two other soldiers and taken into custody at the Millington Police Department.
Millington Naval Base employs more than 7,500 military and civilian personnel. The suspect gunman was reportedly arguing with two other men before he pulled out his gun and allegedly fired at them both.
