NBA 2017 Rumors: Cavaliers Wants to Sign Andrew Bogut; Terrence Jones Reportedly Interested in Joining Celtics
The Cleveland Cavaliers might not have made a trade by the deadline, but they haven't been standing pat on the sidelines while the others were making their moves. Instead of trading away their key players, the Cavs decided to wait and see who would get waived.
Well, they have been rewarded for their patience. Their search for a playmaker to take the load off LeBron James and Kyrie Irving ended when Deron Williams informed the team that he's joining them, and they might add a backup center soon.
Center Andrew Bogut was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers last week, but basketball enthusiasts knew that he might never suit up for the team. The Sixers were expected to buy out Bogut's contract, and once he's a free agent he could sign with any team he wants. According to Akron Beacon Journal's Jason Lloyd, the Cavs and the Houston Rockets were both competing for Bogut's signature.

Bogut is still weighing his options, but ESPN's Tim MacMahon has reported that he would join the Cavs after the Sixers release him. ESPN's Dave McMenamin also confirmed there was mutual interest between both parties. Bogut is going to be playoff-eligible if he's released by March 1.
Bogut is not the Cavs only option at backup center. Last week, they also met with free agent center Larry Sanders and he had a physical with them.
In other news, Terrence Jones has cleared waivers and the forward is reportedly interested in joining the Boston Celtics, according to Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler.
Jones will fit in nicely with the Celtics, but his minutes are going to be limited if he opts to sign with them. He will have to compete for playing time with Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk, Jonas Jerebko and Tyler Zeller. Jae Crowder can also play power forward, so the front court is a little crowded right now.
Al Horford's role in the team is set in stone, but everybody else will have to fight for minutes.
