'NBA 2K16' News: Release Date, College Basketball, and Trailer (VIDEO)

2K Sports has just released an extended gameplay trailer for their upcoming basketball simulation video game, "NBA 2K16."

Kobe Bryant and LeBron James figure prominently in "#WINNING," the full-length "NBA 2K16" gameplay trailer Visual Concepts and 2K Sports has released to promote the 17th installment of their "NBA 2K" basketball simulation franchise.

The three-minute trailer also features the game's cover stars, including Anthony Davis, James Harden, and Stephen Curry. Towards the end, 2K hints the game may include college basketball teams in some capacity, showing a high school basketball player sitting his living room with his family where he is filmed by a family member announcing his choice of college.

This addition to the trailer points out to a large probability college basketball may be featured in "NBA 2K16," which is likely to be included in the upcoming game's MyCareer story mode. Based on the trailer, high school basketball hopefuls will play for the college of their choice, and be present for an NBA Draft.

An Operation Sports forum member has also mentioned 2K Sports currently holds the license for a number of schools to use in their video game titles via the Collegiate Licensing Company, including Wisconsin, Villanova, UConn, UCLA, Texas, Michigan, Louisville, Kansas, Georgetown, Arizona State, and Arizona, so it is entirely possible the new MyCareer mode will prominently feature college ball.

"NBA 2K16" will also feature three non-special edition covers with inserts depicting three of its cover athletes: Houston Rockets' Harden, New Orleans Pelicans' Davis, and Golden State Warriors' Curry that players can choose from.

There will also be a Michael Jordan Special Edition with His Airness on the cover for players who pre-order the game.

"NBA 2K16" is scheduled for release for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on September 29, while players who have pre-order the game will get their copy on September 25.
