However, Twitter also exploded with sneak peeks of basketball personalities who may appear in the game, with the Miami Heat posting quite a few photos of players receiving full body scans.

"Today the players dropped by #pixelgunstudio to have their body scans done for #NBA2K16!" a tweet dated Jan. 16 read.

The Brooklyn Nets responded in kind by posting images of their own players getting body scanned.

While the Heat and the Nets have been the only two teams who have publicly announced hints of which personalities may star in "NBA 2K16," other teams may come forward soon for the game's 16th edition.

Dancer Natalie Tenerelli, who performs for the Los Angeles Clippers, told followers over Twitter she had received a full body scan, as well.

The upcoming edition of the basketball video game appears to be a more realistic version compared to the current one, including each personality's fully scanned body, and not just the face.

Initially developed by Sega Dreamcast, the series started with "NBA 2K" before the franchise was taken over by 2K sports, with a new game released every year since 1999.

Fans are looking forward to the sports games publisher to factor in their reviews on "NBA 2K15" for the improvement of several elements in the gameplay. "NBA 2K16" is expected to be made available for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
