'NBA 2K17' News: LeBron James Remains Game's Highest-Rated Player, James Harden Closing Gap

Latest roster update for 'NBA 2K17' also brings notable ratings changes for other NBA stars

A new roster update was released just recently for "NBA 2K17," and there are interesting things taking place at the top of the ratings ladder.

Developers shared some of the more notable ratings changes included in the roster update over on Twitter, and as fans can see, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers now owns an overall rating of 97.

As a recent report from the Sporting News pointed out, having that overall rating of 97 means that James is still the best player in the game, which is not that surprising, given that he is widely considered as the world's top basketball player at this point in time.

While James earning a better overall rating than everyone else is nothing new, fans may be somewhat surprised to learn that right behind him is another James, and that is none other than MVP candidate James Harden of the Houston Rockets.

Harden's virtual counterpart now boasts an impressive overall mark of 96 inside "NBA 2K17," and that number reflects just how good of a season the star guard has put together.

Also moving up in terms of their overall ratings are Portland Trailblazers guard Damian Lillard and versatile swingman Paul George of the Indiana Pacers, with the former now in possession of an overall rating of 90 and the latter landing a mark of 89.

On the other end of the spectrum, Los Angeles Clippers floor general Chris Paul just had his rating dropped by two points down to 90, while the hyper-athletic Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been given an overall mark of 89, which is down by a point from where it was previously.

With still some games left to play before the 2016-17 regular season is over, players may still perform well or poorly enough to impact what their final overall ratings will be inside "NBA 2K17."
