'NBA 2K17' Patch 12 Introduces Gameplay Improvements Targeting Dribbling and Collisions

Changes to the way AI-controlled players act during double teaming situations also included in latest 'NBA 2K17' patch

Patch 12 was recently rolled out for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of "NBA 2K17" and this one is focused on improving the way collisions, dribbling and double teams function inside this basketball simulation game.

Beginning with collisions, players should find that off-ball variants of these occurrences no longer happen as much and developers are hoping that this will result in the games progressing better.

Some collision reactions that could be triggered when a ball handler was bumped into from behind by another player have also been taken out as these were apparently slowing offenses down.

Dribbling should also work better now with Patch 12 installed.

For instance, an issue that could previously enable ball handlers to essentially travel if they quickly chained together different dribbling animations has been eliminated, so players will no longer be able to exploit this to gain an unfair advantage over the defense.

Different dribble size-up combinations have also been adjusted.

Developers have also made changes to the way that AI-controlled players execute and counter double team strategies inside "NBA 2K17," and more details about these were revealed in a new post on Operation Sports.

To be more specific, the changes being applied will affect player tendencies.

Defensively, AI-controlled players will now choose to send better-constructed double teams that will force ball handlers to make more difficult passes. On offense, the player left open by the double team will make moves on the court designed to counteract the defensive strategy being deployed.

More adjustments for the way double team strategies work are also expected to be introduced in the future.

Patch 12 also features a minor fix that will enable players to sign 10-day contracts in MyGM/MyLeague, according to the notes posted over on the game's official Facebook page.

More news about "NBA 2K17" should be made available in the near future.
