NBA News 2015: Rockets fire head coach Kevin McHale, Charlotte Hornets' Marvin Williams fined for excessive contact

The Houston Rockets has decided to let go of head coach Kevin McHale, while the Charlotte Hornets' Marvin Williams was slapped with a fine for "excessive contact".

In a report by ESPN, the former Boston Celtics big man was fired from his coaching position on Wednesday, leaving assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff as interim head coach.

The report adds that the main consensus of McHale's firing was about the team's inability to make things work and have some synergy.

"The team was not responding to Kevin. There is no time in the West," said general manager Daryl Morey.

In a separate interview with the Houston Chronicle, McHale himself agreed with everyone's sentiments.

"We were starting to address some of the issues that were the reason I was let go. We just weren't playing with any juice, with any rhythm. We haven't been able to get the problems solved."

"We probably had more meetings in last six weeks than in my previous four years here," he adds. "It wasn't working."

The 57-year old McHale served as the Rockets' head coach for four years.

Currently unemployed, McHale is actually being offered a spot in different organizations. The same ESPN report adds that Boston Celtics manager Danny Ainge is considering having a former Celtic on board.

"I told Kevin that today we've got a spot for him," Ainge told the Boston Herald. "I know we could figure something out for him in some capacity, but I think he's just in a wait-and-see mode."

Meanhwile, Charlotte Hornets forward Marvin Williams was ordered to pay a $15,000 fine for throwing an elbow.

In a report by Yahoo! Sports, the 29-year old player received such a penalty when he was ejected in their game against the New York Knicks On Tuesday for committing a "flagrant foul-2" against forward Lou Amundson.
