NBA News 2015: Stephen Curry surpasses father Dell on NBA's All-Time made three-pointers list; Atlanta Hawks coach back after one-game absence
Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry just surpassed his father Dell's record on the NBA's All-Time Three-Pointers list, while Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer is back in the team bench after a one-game absence.
In a report by ESPN.com, the younger Curry made five three-pointers during his team's 107-99 overtime victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. The said game gave the reigning Most Valuable Player 1,248 for his career. He is currently shooting 45.2 percent from the three-point area this season.
For Curry, achieving such a feat is something he never imagined doing.
"I knew about it going into the game. It's a pretty special moment for my family. I'm sure he never dreamt of the day one of his sons would pass him."
In a separate report by ESPN, the elder Curry welcomed his son's record-breaking accomplishment with open arms.
"I've gotten notices from a few sportswriters and a lot of friends, jabbing me a little bit, but it's great," the former NBA veteran said. "The success he's had, after a short amount of time in the league."
"It's great. I'm just happy," he continued. "I'm not only a dad, but a fan of the league and the game, and to have a son play so well on a really good team is just icing on the cake."
Meanwhile, Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer is now back to his coaching duties after missing his team's game on Friday night against the Boston Celtics due to an undisclosed family emergency involving his wife Mary Beth.
The Hawks ended up losing to the Celtics with a score of 106-93. For Budenholzer, he was simply thankful for the outpouring of support he has so far received.
"The support from the players and the staff and everybody has been great. I'm just appreciative of that."
