NBA News and Rumors 2016: LeBron James Marketing Firm Ends Deal with Johnny Manziel

When NBA superstar LeBron James aired his concern over Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and his problems on and off the field, it was already a clear indication of him severing any ties or relationship with the man. And just after a few hours and on the same day he expressed his worries, his marketing firm announced that it no longer will be dealing with the troubled football star.

According to Maverick Carter, James' close friend and business manager, the LRMR Management Co. has ceased to represent Manziel immediately after several reports of him causing all sorts of trouble outside of football.

The announcement may actually have been a swift response by the company toward Manziel's actions, which started when he failed to report to the team facility after being placed in the league's concussion protocol. He later was cited for driving a car with an expired license plate and was rumored to be partying in Las Vegas last Saturday.

James and Manziel are friends, and the Cavaliers star sounded very concerned for his friend. "I'm not quite sure, I don't know all the details on it," referring to Manziel's off-field issues. "I've really kind of haven't been all up on it, but I've heard a little of it… And he'll figure it out at some point. We all hope," the basketball great added.

Manziel hooked up with LRMR back in 2014 when he decided to enter the NFL Draft. Serving as his marketing agent, Manziel looked up James and his company as his mentor in the pros. "He's done a good job, which I'm thankful for, of kind of checking in on me, making sure things are good," he said about James.

But less than two years later, Manziel looked to have gone the wrong direction. Aside from partying and failing to report to the team, he also had a public argument with his girlfriend. He also had a rehab stint last year.

The quarterback is a great player once his focus is on football. He has played in nine games for the Browns this season and threw 1,500 yards, coupled with seven touchdowns. This season, he completed almost 58 percent of his passes.
